Terms of sale

Who you're buying from

The Belongings is a private sale of my own personal belongings by Maksim Namestnikov. It is not a shop or a business: this website is a catalogue of the same things I list on my Facebook profile, with card payment and delivery added. Contact: hello@thebelongings.uk.

The items

Most items are used. Each listing describes the condition honestly, with photos of any marks or faults. Normal signs of use described or shown in the listing are not a fault. Items listed as “For parts” are sold as not working, and the listed fault is part of the description.

Orders and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling. No VAT is charged on a private sale. Payment is taken by Stripe when you place the order. Items are held for 30 minutes while you pay. The contract is formed when you receive the order confirmation email.

If a listing contains an obvious pricing error, I may cancel the order and refund you in full.

Delivery and collection

Postage is shown and paid at checkout. Orders are dispatched within 2 working days and sent tracked. Risk passes to you when the item is delivered to you or collected by you. Collections are arranged by message within 7 days of purchase; if we can't agree a time, I'll refund you in full.

Returns

These are used things from my own home, sold privately. The 14-day “change of mind” cancellation right only applies when you buy from a business, so it doesn't apply here, and I can't take items back because you've changed your mind or found it cheaper elsewhere. That keeps prices low. Please ask anything before you buy, ask for more photos or a video call, or check the item when you collect it.

If something isn't as described

Every item must match its listing and photos. If it doesn't, tell me within 7 days of receiving it, with a photo of the problem. I'll either refund you in full, including postage both ways, or put it right if you'd prefer. If you're collecting and the item isn't as described, don't take it and you'll get a full refund.

Buying for a business

Buying for a business and need a VAT invoice? Ask before you buy. The item can then be sold to you by my company, Coyfield Ltd (VAT number GB508458476), with a VAT invoice: VAT at 20% is added to the listed price. Business purchases are not consumer sales; the “not as described” promise above still applies.

Offers

An accepted offer gives you a payment link valid for 48 hours. The item stays on sale until paid for, so someone else may buy it first; if so, the link will no longer work.
